When a blogger gets sick, there's nobody to do the blogging for them. I've been seriously ill for the past couple of weeks. I'm on meds, and am getting better, but I've had to let a lot of stuff slide to recuperate. Thank goodness I had no current projects, but it's safe to say that I will not be completing Nanowrimo, which is sad, but cannot be helped. I'll begin to post again in a few days.
Not a Good Idea
I posted in October a small list of places that I thought it would be nice to include online fiction. LibrayThing was listed, but I was thinking about similiar sites like it too. I came across this huge, well linked post on LibraryThing, and yeah, it's safe to say Shelfari will never be on my list of good places to approach.
Even if they reformed, the bad press is going to hang around for years. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot guys.

Yay! It Worked!
Congratulations! You have successfully completed your registration details.
You will receive a registration email shortly, and you will need to confirm your registration by clicking on the link in the email for your membership account to be activated. Memberships must be activated within 24 hours of registering.
Once this is completed, view The Simple Guide to Getting Started so you can quickly begin using the site.
Thank you for registering and we wish you every success with your writing.
It must have been a temporary glitch on the Youwriteon.com website the night I tried to register.
This is going to be another huge time commitment. I'm barely remembering to update my Fictionpress edition of Scary Mary.
I am so terribly behind on my Nanowrimo project. I need to write 5,000 words tonight to get myself close to okay. I should go do that, but I am having a tough time. I think all my planning has hurt me. I know what I want to write, but it's like I'm staring at point A and B, but can't figure out how to draw that straight line between them. Very frustrating and strange.

Great Article
I think many people will be interested in this article by Tim O'Reilly and the articles mentioned in it.
If all my brain cells weren't committed to work and Nano, I might have something to say about it.

Site Under Construction
Needless to say, I'm redesigning the site. I got tired of the Minima template and sort of know how to do basic stuff with XML now. Only I don't have all the time that I would want to fix up this blog like I'd like.
I need to create a banner or figure out something out for that black stripe up top. But with Nano, I don't have too much time, and at the moment, I have no sparkling ideas for what to do with it. Hope you can bare with the unfinished design.

Youwriteon.com
Cheryl Hagedorn mentioned Youwriteon.com a few weeks back in connection to a blook. She gave the site high praise and got me interested. I've tried a few different critiquing sites: Critters.org and Hatrack.com primarily. I thought I'd give this one a shot.
But it didn't work. I tried to join YouWriteOn.com, but kept getting, "Sorry, there was a technical problem adding your Registration. Please try again later." The site won't currently let me look at their forums because they seem to only allow access at certain times, which seems a little odd, and the hours allowed are a little odd. Like right now it is almost 9:30am UK time on a Tuesday. Well, the forums are down from 9am-1pm on Tuesdays.
Oh well, I'll try back on another day. I'd like to see how it works.
I'm assuming people outside the UK are allowed to join. I mean when I picked the USA as my country, the form reformatted to allow me to put my state in, and on their About Us page, it says, "YouWriteOn is free to join and open to writers of all nationalities." I think it means I don't need to be in the UK to join. But it could mean I don't need to be a British citizen, but need to be located in the UK.
I wish they were a little more explicit on that. I wouldn't blame them if it was exclusive to British web surfers. I'd just like to know for sure whether I should keep checking back and trying to register.
Follow-up: Yay, it worked!

It's Done!
It's funny. I was so worried about posting the 13th chapter to Scary Mary while on vacation, I completely forgot about posting the LAST chapter the next Friday, which was today. I scrambled to get it edited and I wrote a whole new segment for it after posting it, so had to update and repost, but it's up now! It's complete. I will be trying to figure out places to promote it and hopefully get some readers. A few places that I'd bookmarked, only wanted completed works, so those are now viable.
I will be attempting to do Nanowrimo like I wrote in an earlier post. I can't believe I haven't actually tried to work on it any yet. I have done plotting, but no actual writing has been done yet. Ack! I'm behind. Anyhoo, I will be updating here again soon with God know what and beginning to post to Fictionpress again.
