More Photoshop Slavery

Stormy, here's the distorted photo and the undistorted. I had to redo the image. The source picture is of a much younger girl. Anyone else with an opinion please chime in. A or B?

  1. I do like the unfiltered version. ^_^

I got my art skillz boyfriend to have a look at it - he said the unfiltered one looks actually sinister, though a subtle filter may work as well.

  2. The blurb on the front may be adding to the sinisterness. I'm not committed to it. The blurb is just a placeholder until I can think of something better. As it is now, the cover doesn't really suggest anything supernatural.

The eyeballs are rolled up really high in the photo. I'd dropped them down in the distorted. I think that's giving her a very mean look. I'm not sure if I like that or not. Thank your boyfriend for taking a look.

  3. Are you a member of the web_writers group on LJ? You could post it over there and get some opinions. A couple of people (like Morgan of Larienka's Flaws) there have done print editions, so they might have some hints and stuff. :)

  4. I don't have an LJ account, but I do have their blog in my reader. I'll see about possibly getting an LJ account.

  8. Hm,

I definitely like the distorted one better... not only because of the more possessed-looking eyes (being all black, you can still distinguish iris and pupil of her left eye). But the colour noise somehow dampens the »ghostly look«; you should desaturate it completely. And maybe reduce the distortion (-diameter) a slight bit.

    Keep it up!

  9. ...you can still distinguish iris and pupil of her left eye on the undistorted image, of course :)

    Sorry :)

  10. Brogon, thanks for the comments. I'm not sure if I understand them. You like the distorted one better but want me to lessen the distortion? And the distorted one looks less ghostly? Sorry, I don't mean to question your comments. Just want to clarify.

  11. Oh,

sorry. To clarify: yes, I like the distorted better and yes, I would reduce the distortion a little. The distorted one looks more ghostly, because you can't distinguish iris and pupil, amongst other things. It also reminds me of some older b/w horror flicks... which goes fine with the title, especially the »scary« part :)

I've written the comment at about 3am here (Germany), right before I went to bed... no wonder I messed it up a little >.< Sorry for that. Not that it matters much, as you decided on the design already, anyway :)

  12. Brogon,

Nothing is decided. I'm still playing with it. I'll keep your comments in mind. The most recent cover is what I've had for a few days that's all. Your comments are helpful. Thanks. And thank you for coming back to clarify. :-)
