Identity Crisis

So for a while now, I've been referring to the third book in the Scary Mary series as Long Dead. Well, there was a reason for that, and in a recent edit,  that reason got cut out. I am now flailing about for a new title and can't think of one. I sort of like the title Broken Whispers, but that's more because I used to call all the ghosts whispers in the very early drafts of Scary Mary and that would seem like a nice tip of the hat to that old concept, but I'm not sure if anything in the story really denotes whispers unless you squint. Broken Screams seems melodramatic, but would sort of fit better. I could go with Broken Shadows, which would give everyone an idea what the next book is about, but I don't like the idea of using the word shadow in another title. The whole reason I'm bringing this up is because I've placed a publishing schedule page here on the blog, and I couldn't bring myself to list the third book as Long Dead since I know for a fact that won't be the title. What will it be? I don't know. Maybe I should move away from the word broken. I'll keep brainstorming as I write and hopefully come up with something in the near future. I'll have to have something by July at the very least. Can't publish a book without a title. Well, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

How about Broken Spirits.

I hope you can come up with one soon. I know you'll figure out one once you get farther along in writing it. I can feel it. <3

Hi Kellie R,

That's a good suggestion, but in my ever fickle imagination, I'm mulling over a new title - Stab in the Dark. I sort of like it, but I need to live with it for a few days to see if it really fits. I'm hoping it sticks. Coming up with titles is hard.

Sarah P,

Your faith in me is very sweet. What do you think of Stab in the Dark?

Thank you both!

I'm getting more and more excited as July nears, dying to read the next book! I know it'llI be amazing no matter the title... Although I do like Stab in the Dark... Anyway, I can't wait to read it when you're done with it!

Thanks, Helena. I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. It's starting to really gel now. Still a few rough spots, but it's definitely coming together.

I usually get feelings about things, I'm usually right unless I second guess them. *ponders* I kind of like. Makes me thinking somethings gonna jump out around a corner at midnight. ^_^

(Side note: I'm so excited for August now! I know what's gonna be at the top of my birthday list this *giggles*. Also just noticed I can use my google account to post <3)

Thanks so much, Sarah Pauley! (So nice to put a face to the name.) I'm still liking Stab in the Dark.

Is it bad that I had to look at my own publishing schedule to see what I had going for Aug? I should know this stuff, right? It'll happen I promise!

How about "silent words" or "words left unheard" or "unheard but not unspoken" or something I don't know I'm just brainstorming but I really like your series it's awesome I finished the two books in two days

You're very welcome. (I usually hate photos of me, but that one I like, probably because I just got back from getting my hair cut lol.) Darkened Unknown would be cool too.

Not bad at all! I tend forget what I walk out of the room for...a lot. Yet I can remember songs, lyrics, who sings them, anything with numbers, but I forget what I did ten minutes ago O_o

Hi Nandi,

I like your suggestions. "Unheard But Not Unspoken" seems very poetic and appropriate for Mary. Glad you liked the books!

Sarah,

Ha! I can beat that. I can tell you the plots to movies I haven't even seen. The summaries stay in my head. Used to be great when I worked in a video library, but now all I can use it for is to help my mother pick a movie to watch in the evening. Wish I could remember song lyrics. It would be very useful, since I now work in a music library.

Movies <3. I wish I could remember names of them better if I've only seen them once and it's been awhile. Yet five seconds into the any return of a show called "NCIS" and I know which episode it is and what happened lol.
:O I wish I worked in a music library! It would make the knowledge in my head feel useful and not useless lol.
(I started writing a little again, pretty much stuff no one will ever get to read lol. Also drawing a little again too...well on a lamp shade if that counts.)

I like "Unheard But Not Unspoken" :D Sounds very cool actually.

Ooh, drawing on a lampshade sounds like it could be a cool project. Being creative is a wonderful outlet no matter what medium you use or what you create.

It was my fiance's idea. I like it though since I make it more my style. I think when I'm done I'll post it on DevinatArt to get feedback on it.

I like Unheard but not Unspoken and Broken spirts but i dont like the "Stab In The Dark " it just sounds weird

Sarah,

Sounds cool. Are you already on DA? What's your username?

Anon,

Thanks for the feedback! Broken Spirits sounds good. I think it could work. "Unheard but not Unspoken" is very nice, but seems long for a book title. It could be a chapter title possibly.

I do, been on there since 2006, met my fiance on there too lol. It's Snapefan83

I finished the lamp, but now working on putting 4 photographs of it into one image. I put the shade back on the lamp and freaked out 'cause the lamp wouldn't turn on...it wasn't plugged in *giggles*.

I like Broken Spirits. It fits with the other two titles and sounds spooky, which is the essence of this series. I love the other two books and cannot wait for this new book! Keep up the good work! :)

Sarah,

Have you seen the IT Crowd? It's evil for me to say this, but your lampshade incident reminds me of that show a bit.

Anon, thanks for your vote. I appreciate the feedback.

Wow, you guys are swaying me toward Broken Spirits. It sort of fits Mary's situation in the book.

If anyone else would like to chime in, please do!

I have heard of it, but never seen it.

I'm so excited for the 3rd book. I got another friend into the series ^_^ Gonna suggest it to my cousin if I get to see her next week.

Jessica, Thanks! I'm glad you like Mary. Broken Spirits is a cool name.

Anon, If you look at my post for 6/23/13, you'll see your idea really piqued my interest. I like the idea and am playing with the idea of renaming Stalking Shadows to Stalking Mary and the third book would be called Broken Mary. Thanks so much for the suggestion!!
